Robert D. Brown is the founder of the Brown Law Firm. Robert's goal is to provide responsive and cost-efficient legal representation to institutional and individual investors. His practice focuses on representing real estate owners and operators in the acquisition, operation, leasing, financing, and disposition of a broad range of real estate assets, including office, retail, medical, hospitality, and multifamily properties.
Robert's expertise in Texas landlord-tenant law allows him to effectively represent commercial landlords and tenants in the negotiation of leases and resolution of disputes. He also has significant experience representing multifamily owners and managers in legal proceedings, including evictions, breach of contract claims, and Fair Housing investigations brought by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Robert has considerable experience representing multifamily owners in the acquisition, disposition, and financing of multifamily communities, as well as the negotiation of contracts with vendors serving those properties. His extensive knowledge of the state and federal laws governing multifamily housing provides valuable insight in protecting his clients' interests and helping them navigate complex operational and regulatory issues. A significant portion of Robert's practice involves representing commercial real estate owners in property tax litigation against Texas appraisal districts. He works alongside property tax consultants and ad valorem specialists to challenge excessive property valuations and unequal appraisals, seeking tax reductions and refunds that can improve net operating income and enhance long-term investment returns.
